This is the original Samurai Tiger spear used by Tom Cruise as Captain Nathan Algren in the movie the Last Samurai. During the battle in the fog, Algren steals the spear from a Samurai warrior and used it to defend himself. During the fight, the Red Warrior (Hirotoro) attempts to execute Algren, but he raises the spear to try to deflect the attack and the Samurai cuts the spear in two.
The spear can also be seen at the very beginning of the movie, when Katsamoto has a vision of Samurai warriors trapping a white tiger.
The spear is made of solid wood and is decorated with an ornate red resin piece. The spear tip is made of resin and is painted to look realistically like metal. The flag standard itself is extremely highly detailed and matches up exactly with the one seen on screen. The first loop on the flag is permanently attached to the spear pole so that the flag would stay in place while Cruise whirled it around.
